UPDATE: The Copperas Cove Public Library water filling station will be open Saturday and Sunday between 8AM and 4PM. You're asked to bring your own containers to hold water, and supplies may be limited depending on demand. City officials say the water will not need to be boiled.

The City of Copperas Cove has opened a water filling station to help residents who are currently without water service. It will be staffed until 4PM today.

"A Water Filling Station has been established in the front parking lot of the [Copperas Cove Public] Library, located at 501 S. Main Street, for residents in the Mountain Top Water Plain who have no water due to lost pressure," City of Copperas Cove Public Relations Director Kevin A. Keller wrote in a news release Friday afternoon. "Staff will be available at the location until 4pm today to assist with distributing water to residents. This water does not require boiling."

Residents are asked to bring their own containers to fill with potable water. Keller advised that quantities may be limited to allow for assisting as many residents as possible.

"With roads clearing and better conditions occurring today, Temple Police Department Transportation Services will be discontinued Saturday, Feb. 20 at 12 a.m." Temple Public Relations Coordinator Cody Weems wrote in a news release. " PD Transportation services will then shift resources to deliver water for those who cannot get to water distribution points. Transportation services will still be provided for persons that need to depart a warming shelter through Saturday, Feb. 20. If you are unable to get to a water distribution point or need transportation home from a shelter, please call 254.298.5550."

If you visit a filling station, please be careful on the roads. They are beginning to thaw, but many are still covered in ice and are slippery. Keep in mind that there's still a pandemic on, so wear a mask and give others some space.
