Smile! Copperas Cove, Texas Drive-In Theater Coming Back In New Way

(Copperas Cove, Texas): Some of us long for the days when you go to a drive-in movie theater. In fact, there are still some operating in the state of Texas. But as times change, so do the buildings around us.

With some properties not having any functions any more as drive in theaters, some individuals will look to revitalize the area in a new way. One of those areas is the Joy Drive-In.

The History Of Joy Drive-In

First opened in 1955 and closed sometime in the 1980s, according to Cinema Treasures, the drive-in has been dormant as of late. However, one real estate agency, Noble Group Realtors and the owner Jodie Nobles Lopez, are undertaking a new venture for the area.

The drive-in theater will be transformed into an RV park for Copperas Cove, allowing residents old and new to live on the land that once held the theater. But what could potential residents expect of the new area?

According to the official website for the area, 65 RV Hookups will be available for visitors. Multiple other items will be available, such as Wi-Fi and even golf.

Nobles also has high hopes for the project, stating when interviewed by the Copperas Cove Leader Press:

“With the market the way it is, this can become the low-income housing of the future. And that’s been really important to me. I’d like to take the profit from this development and reinvest it into another project that would help lower income families have affordable homes."

The RV park is planned for opening in the summer of 2023 as per their Facebook. And don't worry for those who wish to see the area show movies, as Nobles also may have a found a way to play movies in the area again!
