Crews Continue to Search Lake Belton for Missing Fort Hood Soldier
Crews continue to search Lake Belton with side-scanning sonar as the whereabouts of a Central Texas man remain unknown after his canoe capsized Monday evening.
KWTX reports crews spent the day Wednesday searching the area but volunteers were asked to stay off the lake due to choppy conditions on the water. One body was recovered on Tuesday. The identity of one man was confirmed on Wednesday as Kelton Sphaler.
Crews continue to search for the man photographed at the top of the page names Scott Weinhold. Scott is a Fort Hood Soldier stationed in Central Texas since March of last year. News 10 confirms that Fort Hood says that Scott is indeed assigned to the post. The Army is providing support to Texas Parks and Wildlife as the search for Weinhold continues.
