Former Fort Hood Soldier Wounded in Midland-Odessa Shooting
Chuck Pryor was a soldier stationed at Fort Hood, Texas before becoming a Department of Public Safety Trooper in 2016 and heading to Midland. He still has plenty of family and friends in the Harker Heights area as you can see in the video above.
Pryor was shot in the face at the beginning of the shooting rampage that ended up leading to the death of 7 people and 20 injured. He remains in the hospital, but the latest update indicates that his condition is improving, he is no longer intubated, and he's receiving visits from family and friends.
When living in Central Texas, Pryor's wife, Bridget, worked at the About Face Anti-Aging Institute. You can link to Pryor's GoFundMe here. The 671 donors have raised over $42,800 so far for medical bills.
Pryor and another DPS trooper pulled over Seth Ator for a traffic violation around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday on Interstate 20 in Midland. Ator then pointed an assault-style rifle at the officers from inside his vehicle and fired at them through the rear window. He hit the gas and headed West to Odessa while randomly shooting at those he encountered along the way. Eventually, Ator hijacked a U.S. Postal Service truck before ending up in a shootout outside of a movie theater were police rammed his mail truck before Ator died from gunshot wounds.
