A local family is mourning the loss of a 10-year-old girl who was pulled from a burning home Sunday night.

John Carroll and Drake Lawson with our partners at News 10 report that the fire was reported in the 100 block of Oak Lane in Gatesville shortly before 12 AM Monday. Cheyenne Harrington was reportedly trapped in her room, and her parents were unable to get to her due to the heavy smoke.

Cheyenne was later pulled from the home and transported to McLane Children's Hospital in Temple, where she later passed away. Gatesville Police Chief Nathan Gholke told News 10 an autopsy has been ordered. The fire was under investigation Monday afternoon.

An account in Cheyenne's name has been opened at the National United Bank at 905 East Main Street in Gatesville for anyone who feels moved to help her family with funeral expenses. A GoFundMe account has also been created for anyone wishing to donate online.

I can't imagine what it's like to lose a child. If you aren't able to donate, please keep Cheyenne's family in your prayers.
