It's the time of year when we're looking to get out of the house and enjoy a night under the stars before the real Texas heat settles in.

If your family is looking to spend some quality time together outside this Friday, the City of Killeen has an outdoor movie screening planned that should be fun!

It's the first screening in their 2021 Movies in Your Park series. This week's feature is The Croods: A New Age at the Killeen Amphitheater, which is just next to the Killeen Community Center at 2201 E Veterans Memorial Blvd.

The show starts at 7:30 PM. You're welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfy seating, and you can bring your own snacks too. They just ask that you don't bring any alcohol or glass containers. It's a family-friendly event, after all.

It's a free screening, so no worries there. It should be a nice, clear evening according to our partners at News 10.

If you've got a picnic basket or a cooler, this is a great opportunity to take in a show while enjoying your family's favorite snacks.

For safety's sake, there will marked seating areas to allow physical distancing. If you think about it, that'd be a good thing anyway. It gives your family some room to stretch out and enjoy the movie in your own space.

More outdoor screenings are coming up soon. Killeen Parks and Rec will show The War with Grandpa on Friday, June 25. Check out the trailer below. It looks hilarious.

Next up will be Tom & Jerry on July 9 and Raya and the Last Dragon on July 23.

Someone at Killeen Parks & Rec's got the plug on some good movies!
