Gluten Free Bun Now Available at Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A has officially added a gluten free option to its menu.
On Monday, the popular fast food chain officially began serving a gluten free bun. Mary Hanbury and Business Insider report that the bun is made with quinoa and amaranth, and molasses and raisins will be used to add a slight sweetness to the bun.
The separately packaged bun will cost an additional $1.15, and contains just 150 calories. As noted in the comments section of Chick-Fil-A Harker Heights' Facebook announcement, while the bun is shipped in a wrapper to avoid contamination, the system isn't foolproof, and the lack of a gluten free work space means they cannot ensure a !00% gluten free sandwich.
According to JAMA Internal Medicine, a study performed revealed that 20 percent of people in the United States removed gluten from their diet. Chick-Fil-A is one of the few fast food chains that is offering a gluten free substitute to their guests. Maybe more fast food restaurants will follow suit if it works out well for Chick-Fil-A
