Google Celebrates 21 Years
If you've looked at Google today you may have noticed the doodle with the numbers 98 9 27. Well if you weren't aware, that is actually Google's birthday!
When you click on the doodle, Google takes you to the Google Doodle page, and gives a quick history of the search engine that we all know and love.
Google legend states that Google is the creation of two Stanford college students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Originally the two called the search engine Backrub. Yikes! It's okay, we've all made mistakes when we were young. Unfortunately for the most of us, those mistakes didn't turn into billion dollar ideas.
The two Ph. D, students started a mission “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
Eventually Google caught the eye of high end Silicone Valley investors and it was actually this day 21 years ago, that Andy Bechtolsheim gave Page and Brin a check for $100,000, and Google Inc. was officially created.
Happy Birthday and thank you Google for being there those long nights in college, and answering every question I've ever had! I wish I could buy you a round since you're officially 21, but um...you're a computer.
