Gregory Morales’ Widow Arrested, Charged with Animal Cruelty
Another day, another story that has me asking what in the world is going on at Fort Hood.
The widow of Pvt. Gregory Morales was arrested Thursday and charged with animal cruelty.
According to Eric Franklin with our partners at News 10, Penny Morales' arrest came after MPs received a complaint about animal cruelty or neglect around 10 AM. She was taken into custody at her home on base and transported to the Military Police Station.
Officials told News 10 there's no indication this morning's incident was related to the investigation of the death of her husband. I don't know what to think anymore.
In all this tragedy, there is one positive thing to report. Morales had been declared AWOL when he vanished in August of last year, and ended up on the Army's list of deserters. This week, Fort Hood officials announced that he will be reinstated and therefore entitled to the military funeral he deserves for his service.
Morales' reinstatement was reportedly prompted by new information in the case of his disappearance, but officials haven't released that information. The soldier's body was found in a field near the 3200 block of Florence Road in Killeen back on June 19, and foul play is suspected in his death.
Meanwhile, we're still awaiting information in the death of 27-year-old Pfc. Brandon Scott Rosecrans, whose body was found on Fuller Lane in Harker Heights back on May 18. His vehicle was found burning earlier that day as well. The Army Times reports that he had been shot.
