Texas Original, H-E-B, Facing Possible Lawsuit Over Alleged Ingredient
A person in the state of Texas has brought a lawsuit against H-E-B which raises concerns over ingredients in a product. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Details Of Lawsuit Filed Towards H-E-B In San Antonio, Texas
According to Chron, the individual who filed the lawsuit in question is Amy Degioanni. Per Degioanni, the product she is focusing on is H-E-B's Hill Country Fare Fruit & Grain Cereal Bars. The legal action places a certain ingredient, dl-malic acid, as the issue.
Chron reveals that the suit alleges the dl-malic acid is in the bar. The acid, as revealed in the suit, is used to amplify the taste of the bar. Per the lawsuit, this contradicts the bar being "naturally flavored."
In addition, Degioanni was alleged to have tested the food to determine if they were artificial or natural. Her tests purportedly revealed the bars were artificial.
Degioanni's Goal With Prospective Lawsuit
According to Chron, Degioanni is seeking to make the suit class action. She is also asking H-E-B to change to label on the product in question to say they are "artificially flavored." At the time of writing, H-E-B did not respond to Chron when reached for a statement on the suit in question.
This is not the first lawsuit against H-E-B this year. Chron reported that another individual, Ramon Richards, brought a lawsuit towards H-E-B after it was alleged Richards discovered a nail in the his Trix cereal he purchased from the store.
As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
