Have You Seen Deon Shamburger? He's a Suspect in a Belton Murder

Belton police are looking to bring the suspected murderer of 39-year-old Jamel Jones to justice, and they're hoping the public an help them find him.

Paul Romer with the City of Belton reports that a murder warrant has been issued for 34-year-old Deon Shamburger. Detectives believe Shamburger responsible for gunning Jones down in the 1100 block of Shady Lane on Friday, July 30.

According to police, someone called 911 to report the shooting around 3:11 PM that day. They found Jones at the scene having suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The alleged shooter had fled the scene in a vehicle, then taken off on foot.

The shooting reportedly happened after a heated argument. Police haven't said what that fight was about, but it makes you wonder if it was worth killing a man over. (Most likely not.)

Police reported on Monday, August 2 that they knew the suspect's name, but did not make it public. They released Shamburger's name Wednesday morning, August 4, and urged anyone who sees him to call authorities and not try to apprehend him. Shamburger is considered armed and dangerous.
