Sometimes keeping the public abreast of what's going on in Central Texas means being the bearer of bad news. If you're a fan of Hooters, I hope you're sitting down.

The restaurant famous for its buxom wait staff and hot wings has closed its doors in Killeen. One of our employees was out on a lunch run when she spotted the vacant building and snapped a few pictures, including a shot of a U-Haul outside.

A few owl eagle-eyed folks across Central Texas have posted their own photos to social media. (I've embedded a couple below.)

Personally, I can't remember the last time I went to Hooters. It's one of those places I always feel kind of embarrassed and self-conscious to be in. That's not to say the people working there purposefully made me feel that way, but...yeah, it was kinda awkward.

Am I supposed to look? How long am I allowed to look? When is looking officially creepy? What am I doing here and when can I leave? I think I should leave. Dinner shouldn't be this awkward. I just wanted wings.

That's just me, I guess. Hooters was a popular spot for soldiers and sports fans who'd pack the place for big games and MMA fights. It was a hub. There's something a little sad about a military town losing its Hooters.

Were you a regular at Hooters? Are you sad to see it go? Let us know in the comments!
