Madness is here. The Texas Tech men's basketball team grabbed the number 6 seed in the South Region for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech has a record of 23-10  and won 4 of its last five games. In the Big 12 Tournament, Texas Tech defeated BYU 81-67 before losing to Houston 82-59 on Friday.

Texas Tech will face 11-seed NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 21st in Pittsburgh, PA. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8:40pm CT on CBS.

NC State went 22-14 on the season. This is the third time in the last nine years that NC State has made the NCAA Tournament.

First year Head Coach for the Red Raiders, Grant McCasland will be making his second Head Coaching appearance in the NCAA Tournament after leading North Texas to a first round win over Purdue in 2021.

If the Red Raiders defeat NC State, they would face the winner of Kentucky and Oakland. The number one seed in the South Region is Houston. They will take on the 16th-seed Longwood in the first round.

The Texas Tech Blarney Stone

Did you know Texas Tech University is home to a piece of the Blarney Stone? According to legend, the stone was discovered by a group of engineers. After doing testing on the stone, it was discovered to be part of the Blarney Stone. On St. Patrick's Day 1939, Texas Tech unveiled the stone. Visitors can find it in front of the old Electrical Engineering Building.
