Killeen Firefighters Battle Blaze at Hilton Garden Inn

UPDATE: Our partners at KWTX report that all 102 rooms of the Hilton Garden Inn in Killeen were occupied Friday night when a fire broke out.

Thankfully, no major injuries were reported, though one person was treated at the scene and two others drove themselves to a nearby hospital seeking treatment for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters had the blaze under control just after 12 AM Saturday. On a good day it may have been a simpler process, but firefighters say the fire suppression system in the building wasn't working due to frozen pipes. They also encountered low water pressure when they initially hooked up their hoses.

Many occupants of the hotel were taken to Skyline Baptist Church for shelter and assistance from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday morning.

As if there wasn't enough tragedy to go around after the winter storm tore through Texas, our friends at the Hilton Garden Inn in Killeen have been struck by a massive fire.

Our news partners at KWTX-TV report that the blaze was reported shortly before 9PM Friday at 704 O W Curry Drive.

Eric Franklin with KWTX reported that water pressure was low when firefighters arrived, but as of 9:04 PM there was enough pressure for fire crews to fight the flames. The cause of the fire was unknown as of 9:22 PM, and there had not yet been reports of injuries.
