Killeen ISD Job Fair Results In Over 260 Letters of Intent
Right before the Christmas break, we were told that a large number of Killeen ISD staff resigned or retired. If you’re not aware already, KISD is understaffed (who isn't these days?), but they held a job fair this week in hopes of remedying that and creating new opportunities for local educators.
Killeen ISD Hiring Event A Success
Killeen ISD Spokeswoman Taina Maya reports that over 600 prospective new employees attended the job fair Tuesday. It was the first such event in the district's history to combine offers of positions not only for teachers, but for aids and nutrition service workers.
According to Maya, a total of 261 letters of intent to hire were issued at the event. Some of these prospective hires could start work in the district as soon as Friday.
More Opportunities Are Coming Soon
Maya says the district will host another job fair on Saturday, March 5 from 8:30 AM to Noon.
Meanwhile, there's a Becoming a Bus Driver seminar this Saturday, January 8.

As kids head back to Killeen schools for the second half of their school year, KISD parents like myself remain concerned about overcrowded classes and the spread of COVID-19. The news that so many staff members left as the holidays approached increased the anxiety, but hopefully all the letters of intent handed out Tuesday are a glimmer of hope.
