Authorities have arrested a Central Texas man believed to be involved in a shooting that took place at a local store.

According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, Chanon Jaross Lacewell was arrested on January 25 after a shooting victim identified him as their attacker.

Police were originally dispatched to Buddy’s Neighborhood Store, located at 3000 Old FM 440, at approximately 12:38 PM in response to a shooting. When local authorities arrived, they were unable to locate the victim or the shooter. Evidence of a shooting was apparent due to the fact that officials were able to locate multiple shell casings.

An injured victim arrived at Advent Health Hospital not long after the shooting report, and authorities were able to confirm that the victim was involved in the incident that took place at Buddy's. The victim also possessed a vehicle that had bullet holes.

Fortunately the shooting was not fatal, and the victim only suffered a leg wound. The victim has since been released from the hospital.

With the assistance from the victim, police say they were able to find their suspect and the shooter. Investigators say the victim positively identified Lacewell as the attacker, and an arrest warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

A complaint was returned charging Lacewell with Aggravated Assault Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon.

Lacewell was booked into the Bell County jail at approximately 9:56 AM Wednesday.

He remained there Thursday afternoon with bond set at $200,000. A motive for the shooting has not been released by the Killeen police department.
