Killeen, Texas Mourns The Loss Of A Beloved Young Teacher
This week, Fort Hood and all of Central Texas mourns the death of a beloved teacher at Montague Village Elementary School.
Condolences to Alexandra Chandler's Students and Family
Mrs. Alexandra Chandler, who was an adored fifth-grade teacher, sadly passed away on Sunday following a brave fight against COVID-19.
In a media release issued Monday afternoon, KISD spokesperson Taina Maya described Mrs. Chandler as "a dedicated teacher, friend, and mentor to her peers and students", and wrote that she would be greatly missed.
Counselors were made available at the school for anyone, young or old, who needed help dealing this this tragic loss.
Funeral arrangements were still pending.
Our partners at KWTX report that Mrs. Chandler was diagnosed with COVID-19 before an emergency C-section to delivery her baby son, Beau.
Thank You for Molding Young Minds
Thanks are in order for all of the teachers still putting their health and safety on the line to educate and look after our children.
I don’t think people understand how brave educators are, or how essential they are in the lives of their students. When you think about it, these teachers spend more time with our kids during the week than we do, and the loss of such a young teacher who surely had a strong bond with her learners is truly painful.
God Bless and Rest In Peace
Alexandra was a heroic fighter in my mind, and it is truly unfortunate what happened to this young, vibrant educator. On behalf of myself and everyone here at Townsquare MEdia, condolences go out to her family, and we hope you find strength and peace during this difficult time. God bless you.
