Less Than a Week Into 2022, Killeen, Texas Police Investigating First Murder
We're less than a week into a new year, and police in Killeen, Texas are already investigating the city's first homicide of 2022.
Police Dispatched to Club Obok in Killeen
Killeen PD's Ofelia Miramontez reports that officers were dispatched to Obok Restaurant & Club, 2815 S. Fort Hood Street, around 1:42 AM Thursday after reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, police found 41-year-old Roderick Pollard lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.
Fatally Injured
Pollard was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center in critical condition. Sadly, he later passed away as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:10 AM. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke ordered Pollard's body sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for an autopsy.
He Wasn't The Only Victim
Miramontez reports that a female victim was also injured, and received treatment at Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights. Her injuries were described as minor, and she was released soon after treatment.
First Murder, But Not The First Shooting of 2022
This is the first homicide in Killeen this year, but sadly enough it's not the first shooting.
Killeen police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Bacon Ranch Road around 9:50 PM Monday after receiving word of a shooting victim. It turned out there were two victims: a girl age 16, and a boy age 18.
Both were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.
