Killeen, Texas welcomed a new judge this week who'll serve the City of Killeen Municipal Court. Kris Krishna will be replacing Mark Kimball, who we all know was an amazing judge who retired after eight years of service to Killeen. (We'll always be so thankful for his time there.)

Laredo native Kris Krishna was a regional council for the Web – Zapata Counties district office for the last two years. Krishna has also worked as a prosecutor in the Grand Prairie City Attorney's Office, and was once an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County.

Krishna's résumé speaks for itself. this gentleman has done great things and has plenty of accomplishments under his belt. For instance, Krishna was also an instructor at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston from 2009 to 2011, where he received his law degree.

I believe Judge Krishna makes a wonderful addition to our fine city. I would love to see him and Mayor Segarra work side-by-side making decisions, as his experience and proven track record would be great assets to the City of Killeen.

Judge Krishna's first day of service to Killeen will be Monday, April 11. Full disclosure: In addition to this gentleman's accomplishments, I'm also thrilled to see a man of color in office who my son can look up to and aspire to be like.

Welcome, Judge Krishna. I know you will make us all very proud.
