Every time I hear about a new business opening in Central Texas, my first thought is, "Is it locally owned?". I'm happy to report that not only is Iron Gauntlet Brauhaus in Killeen locally owned, but it's veteran owned, and best of all (for me, anyway) it's pet-friendly!

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce is set to welcome Killeen's first craft microbrewery with a ribbon cutting today (Wednesday, March 31) at 3 PM.

Iron Gauntlet Brauhaus is located at 400 Cheyenne Dr. right off I-14 and just behind Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.

The brewery isn't just pet friendly. It's also family friendly, with an arcade, board games, trivia and karaoke nights, live music, and even axe throwing.

Yes, axe throwing. C'mon! How awesome is that?

Of course, they've also got plenty of TVs for watching games and fights.

The crew at Iron Gauntlet Brauhaus brew up beer, hard seltzer, and even kombucha in-house. They also carry wines, soft drinks, and fruit drinks. As far as food goes, they plan to rotate local favorite food trucks and even have free cookouts. They'll also let you rent the place for private events. You can check out their website, Facebook page, or call them at (254) 833-5020.

You're invited to attend the ribbon cutting in person, but the Chamber asks that you please wear a mask and give others some space. If you can't make it out or want to watch from a distance, you can attend virtually on the Chamber's Facebook page.

Like I said, I'm just glad to see another locally owned, veteran operated business in Central Texas. Yeah it can be fun when we get new chain place coming to town, but ultimately it's these local businesses that add to our community's unique identity and culture.

Cheers!
