KISD Welcomes A Brand New Principal To Killeen, Texas
Even though the summer has started for Killeen, Texas, Gateway Middle School will be prepared for the for the 2020 to 2023 school year with a brand new, ready-to-educate principal.
WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT SHARITA HERRERA?
A big warm welcome is needed for Ms. Sharita Herrera. Herrera has had 11 years of teaching on a middle school level and has even served as an assistant principal at Gateway since 2020.
What had me most excited about her is that she believes that building personal and most importantly positive relationships with the children will definitely ensure every child is successful and ready to rise to any occasion.
Educators who truly care about the students and want to see them succeed and win in life are the people who truly help mold our children into great people.
THE CHANGE IS HERE!
So many teachers and faculty do a lot to motivate our kids, but I can remember some teachers really just showing up for a paycheck and ready to go home while being more excited about the summer vacation than the students, which is extremely unfortunate.
Principal Herrera's demonstrated that she's definitely not there to watch the clock, and is genuinely invested in building character in and being there for our kids in Killeen.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR, PRINCIPAL HERRERA
Superintendent Dr. John Craft said Principal Herrera's work this past semester has demonstrated leadership and the ability to lead the campus in a positive direction. At the end of the day, that’s all we want in a principal. I look forward to seeing how she helps improve our children's lives next year.
