A detective for Travis County was recently arrested for the sexual assault of a young girl.

According to a report from KVUE, Stephen Broderick, a detective in Travis County, was arrested on June 6 for the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. Currently Broderick is still incarcerated in the Travis County Jail, and has a $100,000 bond.

KTBC-TV reports that the assault took place in Elgin on June 6. The girl immediately disclosed to her mother, who took her to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, where she then underwent a forensic sexual exam. The Bastrop County Child Advocacy Center also conducted a forensic interview with the victim.

Based on the victim's statements and exam, officials were able to corroborate her story and chose to move forward with Broderick's arrest. Unfortunately Broderick is still employed by Travis county, and has only been placed on administrative leave.
