Local High School Student Punches School Officer
When school fights take place, anyone nearby can be caught up in the violence. On Tuesday, a school resource officer found himself in that position after breaking up a fight between two girls at Midway High School.
KWTX's Taina Maya reported that 17-year-old Sirena Rae Baldarrama was charged with assault on a public servant and resisting arrest after punching that school resource officer in the throat.
The school officer was successful in breaking up a fight between Baldarrama and another student, and was escorting Baldarrama to the principal's office when she took a swing at him and missed. Unfortunately, her next swing hit him in the throat.
Police Chief of Hewitt, Jim Devlin said, "The unidentified school resource officer was not seriously hurt."
Balderrama has been held in the McLennan County Jail on $4,000 bond. Records indicate she was no longer in jail Wednesday.
