Sweet Bite of History: Mars Celebrates 45 Years In Waco
There's been a delicious staple in Waco for the past 4 decades, and they're celebrating a special anniversary.
Sapphire Anniversary
The Mars plant at 1001 Texas Central Parkway is celebrating 45 years in the Central Texas community after opening its doors in 1976.
Not only did the company bring jobs to the area, but they also brought the community together through a shared love of sweet treats.
Waco Made & Texas Proud
If you've ever visited the location where the factory is located, you've surely been met with the tantalizing smell of chocolate, or maybe a burst of fruity aromas. After all, the plant in Waco is responsible for mass producing Skittles, Starburst, and Snickers.
Believe it or not, the Waco plant actually produces over 65 percent of all the Snickers all over North America, 80 percent of all the Skittles, and 100 percent of all the Starburst in North America.
Generational Love
The company not only treats its employees like family, but also has several generations of families who have been working at the Waco plant for many years.
Fun fact: My grandmother worked at Mars for decades and retired with the company. My mother has also been employed with Mars for 20+ years, and works alongside other members of our family as well!
Growing up with candy at your disposal is definitely any kid's dream come true, so I can tell you I'm good on candy for a lifetime.
