No Charges Filed After Killeen, Texas Woman Hit and Killed by Car
No charges will be filed in Killeen, Texas following the death of a young woman who was struck by a car and was later pronounced dead.
The accident happened on West Elms Road in the early afternoon.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
According to our news partners at KWTX, Eliana Leigh Shoemate, 24, was struck by a car while walking in the 1300 block of W. Elms Road. Police reported the accident happened at about 1:40pm on Friday, July 22, 2022.
Investigation
Following a preliminary investigation, Shoemate stepped into the roadway and was hit by a car driving eastbound in the outside lane. She was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Shoemate dead at 3:15 p.m.
No Charges Filed
According to KXXV Channel 25, police also announced that no charges would be filed at this time against the driver of the vehicle that struck Shoemate.
"There are no pending criminal charges for this crash. Investigators with the Traffic Unit continue to investigate this fatality and there is no other information at this time."
Police also said the driver of the vehicle reported no injuries.
