Rent, Utility Relief Being Offered By Belton, Texas City Council

COVID affected many across the world and the nation. Many lost their jobs, and some struggled to make ends meet. Thankfully, help is coming to those who were deeply affected by the pandemic - particularly in Belton, Texas.

On April 26, 2022, the City Council of Belton made the decision to provide $300,000 in funds to help those in need. The funds will be handed out by United Way of Central Texas.

According to a press release released by the City, Belton Mayor Wayne Carpenter was quoted as saying: "I’m proud the City Council has chosen to allocate funds to directly assist Beltonians still struggling with the financial impact of COVID. I appreciate the United Way of Central Texas partnering to distribute funds to those in need.”

Anyone needing financial assistance simply needs to head to this link. No certain amount of money is needed if one is to apply for assistance. The most funds one can apply for is up to $3,000 and can be used for any services such as HOP Transportation, housing, internet, and most utilities.

The ARPA or the American Rescue Plan Act is helping provide the relief for citizens. $5.6 Million has been given to Belton as a way to help anyone whose living situation was altered by COVID-19 or the pandemic as a whole.

As for other items affected by COVID, the council will also discuss making $1.15 available for assistance in food and small business support.
