Detour Ahead! Roads to Avoid in Killeen, Texas as Closures Start Monday
Road construction continues in Killeen, Texas, and starting Monday, June 13th, several road closures will begin that may affect your commute to work.
According to a news release from the City of Killeen's Public Works Transportation Division, Monday June 13th will be a busy day. Crews plan to start road construction projects on several high-traffic areas.
Chaparral Road
Road closures starting on Monday include the northbound lane of 4400 Chaparral Road in Killeen, which will be closed to through traffic for the day for paving work. The southbound lane will remain open with flaggers on-site to guide traffic around the work site.
Detours will be in place, as crews are paving the new right turn lane.
Westcliff Road Closure
According to the City of Killeen’s Department of Public Works’ Water and Sewer division, all lanes of Westcliff Road between 2410 and 2502 blocks will be closed on Tuesday, June 14th from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Crews will be trenching in order to provide water services for new home construction in the area.
According to the news release,
Residents of Belt Loop will be guided in and out of the job site on the westbound side only. All other motorists will be directed to the detours on Schwald Road and Mark Drive, with city employees at both ends of the detour to assist drivers along the detour. Motorists should anticipate delays and are asked to use caution and obey traffic control devices.
Robinett Road
Robinett Road from Watercrest Road to Elms Road from Tuesday, June 14th through Saturday, June 18th, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. with various lane closures taking place while crews complete asphalt and milling services. The City of Killeen says full road closure may occur during this project, and roads will be only be open to local residents during this time period.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution, obey traffic control devices, and consider an alternate route during street maintenance.
