James Mark Bishop was arrested by members of the USMS Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force with the coordination of the USMS North Texas Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Where Was James Mark Bishop Found?

Bishop was found and arrested east of Medford in rural Oregon.

According to our news partner KWTX, Bishop was wanted in Texas and Oklahoma on multiple warrants. Nine months ago, the Tulia Police Department issued two warrants for continuous sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. The Texas County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma also issued a warrant to revoke Bishop’s probation for five counts of knowingly downloading child pornography.

The Crimes of James Mark Bishop

In 2005, Bishop was a deputy with the Texas County Sheriff’s Office when he was arrested for sexual exploitation of a child. He was later convicted in 2007 on five counts of knowingly downloading child pornography.

In 2011, after being released from prison, Bishop was placed on probation and moved to Tulia, Texas. In 2020, Bishop was arrested in Tulia for the continuous sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child involving a 12-year-old girl.

In 2021, he was added to Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List. Last month, KWTX reported that the reward for his capture had been increased to $8500.

Three fugitives on Texas 10 Most Wanted list were taken into custody in March, and currently seven are still at large.
