A Killeen ISD school was placed on a brief lock down Friday afternoon as a precaution following a disturbance in a nearby neighborhood.

Our news partner, KWTX, reports that Shoemaker High School was locked down for about half an hour after reports of shots fired in the are of Windcrest Drive and Winfield Drive.

KISD spokesperson Terry Abbot told KWTX that protective measures were initiated around 2 PM and lifted around 2:35 PM. Students were kept inside, and there was no danger to anyone on campus.

Thanks to Killeen ISD and Killeen PD for their efforts to ensure student safety!
