Killeen police are investigating a shooting that left a teenager dead Wednesday night.

Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez reports that officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Hereford Lane at approximately 9:22 PM. A 911 call placed minutes before reported shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a young man lying on the road with gunshot wounds. Police and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim to no avail.

The victim, identified as 17-year-old Martez Anthony Bryant, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 10:07 PM. Bryant's remains were transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy.

Detectives with KPD's Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit are asking anyone who may have seen anything or has information that could help find whoever is responsible for this shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477) or bellcountycrimestoppers.com.
