Shooting in Killeen, Texas Leaves One Dead, One in Critical Condition
More gun violence in Killeen, Texas leaves one person dead and one in critical condition.
This is an ongoing investigation, but according to our news partners at KWTX, Killeen police are on the scene of a shooting in southwest Killeen. One person was found deceased, while another was taken to Baylor Scott & White and is in critical condition.
Shooting in Killeen
The Killeen Daily Herald reports that KPD responded to a 911 call at 4:56am on Wednesday morning, June 8th in the 4500 block of Donegal Bay in southwest Killeen.
"Upon the officers arrival, they located a female suffering from a gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition. Officers also located an unconscious male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and advised that the male had no signs of life. This investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information at this time."
No names have been released.
Violent Crime in Central Texas
Incidents of violent crime seem to be on the rise in Central Texas. Just over a week ago two teens were shot in Harker Heights, Texas, with one suffering serious injuries.
More recently, Tommy Lee Shelton was arrested and charged with murder in Temple, Texas after shooting and killing his girlfriend, 47-year-old Erin Gilligan, after an argument on June 1st. This was Temple's first homicide of 2022.
Even man's best friend is at risk. KWTX reports that Krystoff Leanthony Joseph Irving, 23, was arrested on June 6th after shooting two dogs following an argument with his wife. He's being charged with making terroristic threats against a household member, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and two counts of cruelty and abuse of a non-livestock animal.
