SNAP Benefits to Help Over One Million Texans for Month of June
If you're looking for a helping hand this summer, relief is on the way. Texas is providing over $317 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits for the month of June.
About 1.3 million households in need will benefit from this extension. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can be used to buy food from any location that accepts it. The benefits are loaded onto a Lone Star Card, and can be used just like a debit or credit card.
SNAP Extension for June 2022
All SNAP households will receive a minimum of $95 in additional emergency allotments, which should appear in accounts by June 30th, according to KXAN.
SNAP is a federal program that helps provide food for eligible low-income families and individuals. The $317.9 million for June is in addition to the $6.9 billion in benefits given to Texans since the pandemic began in 2020. The SNAP benefit program has been extended several times in the last two years.
