Killeen

When Camp Hood was commissioned in 1942, Killeen was a small farming community of about 1,000 people. By the time the base was recommissioned at Fort Hood in 1950, the City of Killeen had officially become a military boom town.

Today, Killeen lies along a major highway (I-14) and continues to grow as a thriving military community and business center.

Killeen remains a melting pot thanks to its proud military history and legacy.
