Temple, Texas Independent School District is already expanding their newly implemented ban on phones and other mobile tech devices during school hours, and it will affect way more students now than what the current restrictions in place are.

Pretty soon, it may not even be up to the individual school districts in Texas to regulate mobile device use on campus because there are bills passing through the state's house and senate that could completely purge a student's access to mobile tech while school is in session.

Why Should Temple ISD Expand Their Phone Restrictions?
Put simply, according to this KCEN article, since incremental guidelines have been put in place at Temple High School, both attendance and classroom performance have increased substantially. Disciplinary referrals have also gone up, but that is most likely due to all of the rule breaking done by the teenagers in regards to abiding by the new phone rules.
What Are The Downsides To A School Phone Ban?
Honestly, as the child of an educator, my mother does not know of any. Children are there to learn, and they still have another 10 + hours per day outside of sleep and school to be on their devices.
