A Temple man who admitted to being involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Belton teenager last week has been arrested and charged.

Police say 61-year-old Ronal Norwood entered the Belton Police Department Saturday, November 19, to admit to his involvement in the crash that fatally wounded 13-year-old Richard Synder of Belton, who was hit while riding his bike in the 2100 block of the I-35 frontage road around 6:15 PM Friday, November 18.

Norwood's red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was impounded Saturday. He was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death - a second-degree felony. He was booked into the Bell County Jail at 8:06 PM, and his bond was set at $500,000.

City of Belton spokesperson Paul Romer said Tuesday evening that there is currently no evidence that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
