Temple Police have released the following statement:

Officers have identified the victim of yesterday’s drowning as Ruthie Murphree, a 44 year old woman.  Preliminary autopsy results indicate the drowning was accidental.  Investigators are awaiting full results before making a final determination.  Investigation remains active at this time.

A resident of Twink Oaks Apartments in Temple drowned Wednesday morning in the complex's swimming pool.

Emergency units were called to the building at 601 Twin Oaks Drive shortly after 4 a.m. When they arrived, they spotted a person at the bottom of the swimming pool. Members of the Morgan's Point Dive Team were called to recover the person, who was then pronounced dead at the scene.

Justice of the Peace Donald Engelking ordered an autopsy be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. An initial investigation indicated that the drowning was accidental.

The victim was a resident of the building. Her name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
