Texas has a great many claims to fame that any good Texan will quickly point out to any non Texan any chance they have, but it does not get much more exclusive in the United States than being able to shop at your local H-E-B. Perhaps I am showing my age here, or this may be an acknowledgement to the claim of many that I am an old soul, but there just about is not anything I enjoy more than going grocery shopping at H-E-B.

As I have gotten older, my eyes have begun to become bigger than my tummy and sadly with the surge in food cost inflation over the last couple of years, my eyes have also become much larger than my food budget. As a father of three who loves throwing just about everything you can find in the butcher department onto the smoker or grill, it is getting more difficult to properly bring up my children as real Texans.

According to this KENS 5 article, for the next 120 days, H-E-B will award one of their customers groceries for a year as the grocery chain celebrates their 120th birthday as a Texas original. They know without customers, they never would have made it 12 months, let alone 1,440 of them.
