Texas was warned just over two weeks ago that winter is not over, and we can expect three more weeks before spring arrives. Never mind that meteorological spring always begins about 3 weeks following Groundhog Day on March 1st, but we also do not listen to a rodent from Pennsylvania for our seasonal predictions because we have Xenartha named Bee Cave Bob that lives right here in Central Texas.

During the last few winters in Texas, we have had to battle a wintry weather snap about once per season, but this current winter we have been seen far more days of below freezing temperatures. Thankfully, there has not been a lot of freezing precipitation because as the colder northern air has pushed south, it was generally been fairly dry, but this time could be greatly different.

Disastrous Weather And Polar Vortex 3.0 Now Heading Into Texas

According to the video above, we are about to fall below the freezing mark for the better part of the week, and that is because Polar Vortex 3.0 will be arriving for much of the Lone Star State. We also can expect rain across much of Texas just before the temperatures fall off the cliff and plummet to well below freezing.

The worst of this cold snap will be Wednesday through Friday, and that will be the window you will really want to make an extra effort to check on your people and animals. Keep an eye on your thermostat, take precautions to prevent your pipes from freezing, and you can also expect warming centers to be open for most of the nights this week.
