Texas Rangers Investigating Shooting Involving Off-Duty Sheriff’s Deputy
News 10 is reporting that Texas Rangers are investigating a Christmas Eve shooting that involved an off-duty McLennan County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday at Antler Road off State Highway 6.
KWTX said, "According to sheriff's office officials, an off-duty deputy in his personal vehicle encountered an aggressive driver; he let the driver pass, but the man stopped his car, put it in reverse, and came back to the officer. The deputy got out of his vehicle and told the man he was an armed officer, however, officials say the man told the deputy 'he didn’t care', and a verbal confrontation ensued. After the man displayed a weapon, officials say the deputy fired several rounds."
So far no arrests have been made.
“The suspect fled in his vehicle, and was later found and detained by Waco PD, interviewed by the Texas Rangers, and released,” said Chief Deputy David Kilcrease.
The off-duty deputy has been assigned to administrative duties until further investigation.
