Planning the Perfect Road Trip? You Don’t Even Have to Leave Texas
Wanna get away but don't have the funds to take the entire family down to Disney World? No need, because Texas ranks 3rd in the country in "2022's Best States for Summer Road Trips."
The staycation you need is right down the road.
Summer Vacation?
Summer is in full swing, and for many families that means vacation time. The last couple of years saw the pandemic keep people home for obvious health reasons, and the summer of 2022 is full of inflation and high gas costs. So many are, once again, rethinking those plans to visit Mt. Rushmore, to see the Great Northwest, to wave to the Statue of Liberty simply because the cost of living and even getting around is at an all-time high.
The good news is that we live in a state that has plenty of things to see and do. In fact, WalletHub compared all 50 U.S. states based on 32 key metrics to find the most fun, scenic, and wallet-friendly road-trip destinations, and the great state of Texas finished at #3 on their list.
Road Tripping in Texas
Finishing 3rd on the list should tell you that Texas has a lot to offer. Only New York, at #1, and Minnesota at #2 placed higher. Of the 32 metrics used to determine the best states for summer road Trips, Texas finished pretty strong in seven categories including:
- 7th in number of attractions
- 2nd for lowest price for three-star hotel rooms
- 8th for average gas prices
- 10th for nightlife options per capita
- 22nd for vehicle miles traveled per capita
- 12th for access to scenic byways
- 9th for driving laws rating
So you may have to slim down your plans this summer for that family road trip, but Texas has lots to offer. Whether you want to make it a 3 or 4 day weekend trip, or even a full 5 or 6 days away, there are lots of places to choose from with plenty to do right here in the Lone Star State.
