
Surprising Raises Now Coming To Texas Teachers
Austin, Texas has been a very busy place for the last couple of months as the 89th legislative session is introducing, debating, and cranking out passed bills that are landing on Governor Abbott's desk faster than a Central Texas hail storm blows through. As the child of a retired educator, offering better incentives will attract more people to the profession, but no amount of money will ever properly compensate the calling.

Once the new bill is signed, the rural school districts will receive the biggest support as teachers will receive raises totaling $4,000 increases for teachers with 3 to 4 years experience, and an $8,000 bump for teachers with 5 or more years of tenure. It really sounds like a no brainer to take care of those who take care of our children.
Texas Prioritizes Education: New Bill Promises Teacher Raises
Most educators work on a union scale that is based on their level of education plus years of experience to determine their annual compensation. The issue with that approach is that often during contracts with the pay scale plotted does not always keep up pace with cost of living adjustments, so this immediate pay raise is probably only going to help the faculty catch up with where they need to be.
