Texas Tech Brings Home First Ever Men’s National Title
For the first time in the schools nearly hundred year athletic program history, Texas Tech has a men's national title.
The Red Raiders are outdoor Track and Field National Champions after they posted a score of 60 points Friday in Austin.
The only other National Title from the school was in 1993, from the Women's Basketball team, a feat nearly accomplished again in April. But came up just shy with an overtime loss in the title game.
One of the brightest stars was Divine Oduduru who won both the 100 and 200 meters with an NCAA record-breaking time of 19.73 in the 200.
I'm a Texas Longhorns fan, but I'm happy for Tech and will root for any Texas team or Big twelve team that isn't playing Texas to succeed. I still have nightmares of Michael Crabtree's game-winning touchdown in 2008, but again hope Lubbock celebrates like they did that night.
