Farm-To-Market Road 116 in Copperas Cove is about to become a little wider, and a little safer for Central Texas motorists. TxDot says work began yesterday on a section of FM 116 as a turn lane is being added between Avenue A and Anderson Avenue near Copperas Cove. TxDot says the project will cost about $5.5 million.

TxDot also reported:

The project will also include the application of safety-end-treatments to culvert-ends at cross drainage locations under the roadway and adjoining private driveways.

Delays are expected in the area until the projects completion (summer of 2017). Daily lane closure are expected in the area from about 9am to 4pm during the week.

According to the TxDot press release, "Please observe all warning signs and exercise caution when passing near construction personnel and equipment in the project area".
