Police in Gatesville have arrested a pair of teenagers after two predominately Black churches were vandalized last week.

According to News 10, 19-year-old Nickolas Callen Harborth and a 15-year-old whose identity wasn't released due to his age were arrested on Friday night and booked into the Coryell County Jail on charges of criminal mischief, damage/destroy worship or school, a third-degree felony.

The alleged vandals spray-painted what appeared to be satanic and anarchy symbols on the front of Mt. Cavalry Church of God at 128 North 12th St. in Gatesville, as well as the words “I’ll be on Satan’s lap.” In addition, a window was broken out at the nearby Sweet Home Baptist Church at 511 North 14th St.

While police don't believe the vandalism was "racially motivated", Pastor Lee Ford of the Mt. Cavalry Church Of God believes it is.

The Coryell County Sheriff's Office sent jail trustees to clean off the graffiti a few days ago and posted the following update:

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Gatesville Police Department at 254- 865-2226 or Crime Stoppers at 254- 865-8477.
