UPDATE: KWTX's Alex Cano reports that the woman was killed after stepping into the path of the oncoming train, which was traveling less than 40 miles per hour. The collision occurred around 9:00 AM. Union Pacific representatives say the woman did not appear to respond to warning devices, including the crossing arms.


 

Local authorities are investigating the death of a woman struck by a train in Little River-Academy Thursday morning.

KWTX's Alex Cano reports that train struck the woman around 9:15 at a crossing on Main Street between North Allison St. and Katy Way. The train remained stopped at the crossing late Thursday morning as officials assessed the scene.
