All Clear Given at McLane after Early Morning Fire Causes Evacuation
I live pretty close to the McLane grocery distribution center in Temple, but I didn't hear a peep overnight from firefighters responding to call about a fire at McLane Southwest in the 2800 block of Industrial Blvd.
KWTX reports the call about the fire came in about 3:30 am. Temple Fire Department spokesman Thomas Pechal said the fire started when a semi was backing into the loading doc. A light on the top of the truck was the cause of the blaze.
The heat from the light caught the cushioned protective area around the loading dock on fire. Pechal said the evacuation took place as soon as the fire started. Employees grabbed fire extinguishers and had the fire put out before first responders arrived.
Thankfully, nobody was injured and damage to the distribution center was not serious.
