New Inclusive Ice Cream Shop Hopes to Change Minds in CenTex

Another business in Central Texas is offering an inclusive working environment for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

According to Udder Love Ice Cream, the ice cream shop in Liberty Hill owned by James and Lisa Candido will serve as an inclusive and supportive work environment for their youngest son Tyler, as well as others with disabilities.

James and Lisa welcomed Tyler into the world in 2010, and shortly after were told that Tyler has Down syndrome. The couple realized that raising Tyler would look different than it had with their other children, but that doesn't mean that they didn't have the same hopes and dreams for their son.

After a recent job change, the opportunity to open Udder Love, located inside Main Street Social in Liberty Hill, came at the perfect time for the Candidos. The family plans to work together at the ice cream shop, including Tyler's two older siblings.

"This is the perfect venue for Tyler. He is a lover of ice cream, which he calls 'licky, licky,' and working with my son will be a dream come true," stated James Candido.

The ice cream shop is initially offering 16 hard-packed, premium flavors including dairy-free and no sugar added, and house-made waffle cones. While the business is starting with family, they plan to expand and offer employment to others with disabilities. Udder Love Ice Cream hopes to provide a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment to all who enter their doors.

Just recently it was announced that another inclusive work place was opening: Bitty & Beau’s Coffee in Waco.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

Back on April 30, 2021, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now we know what will go in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.
