Belton I-35 Shooting Victim From Euless Has Died
We're sad to report that a man who was shot by someone in another vehicle while traveling along I-35 in Belton earlier this month has died.
Paul Romer with the City of Belton broke the tragic news Monday afternoon around 5:01 PM.
Romer reports that the victim has been identified as Antonio Alvidrez of Euless, Texas.
Police say that on Sunday, September 12 at 8:32 PM, a driver called 9-1-1 to report seeing multiple shots fried at Alvidrez's white Chevy Trailblazer, which then veered off the roadway near the Lampasas River bridge.
Emergency responders found Alvidrez seriously wounded inside the vehicle, and he had to be air lifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
Our partners at KWTX-TV reported that the vehicle actually ended up in the river, and that it was riddled with bullet holes. It's unknown why Alvidrez was targeted.
Mr. Romer tells us this case is still under investigation, and that police are hoping someone out there can provide them with information that will help identify the shooter and their vehicle.
