June 30 has seen incredible moments in country music history. Chart-toppers, presidential guests, and career milestones are what have made this a day to remember over the years.

Opryland USA Opens with a Presidential Guest in 1972

Opryland USA theme park and the Opryland Hotel opened in Nashville in 1972. In fact, it opened before the Grand Ole Opry House was even finished. On opening night, such a big deal was made out of this event that President Richard Nixon attended. Reports say he sat at the piano and played some songs too. That's a rare event to say the least.

Garth Brooks Receives a Star in 1995

By 1995, Garth Brooks was one of the biggest names in country music. On June 30 that year, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To top that off, he buried the master tapes of his album titled The Hits under the star as a private tribute.

Brad Paisley Releases a Hit Album in 2009

In 2009, Brad Paisley released American Saturday Night. It went to number one on the Country charts and had the hit single Then, which became Brad's fourteenth number one song. This album was a party to summer fun with great lyrics and soon became a fan favorite.

Morgan Wallen Sets a Record in 2022

Morgan Wallen was everywhere in 2022. His album, Dangerous (a double album) spent ninety-seven weeks at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart. That is the record for most weeks ever in the number one position.

Shania Twain Shines in 2024

In 2024, Shania Twain performed the Legends slot at Glastonbury Festival in the UK. She became the first country artist to perform in that slot since Dolly Parton did it in 2014.

Country music keeps finding ways to make history, and today is a prime example.
