Daylight Savings has ended, which means time is back to its normal self, at least for time being. This means its getting nighttime quicker here in the Lone Star State, and many have voiced opinion on when we can stop changing the clocks. However, the night haven't reached the darkest yet here in the Central Texas area.
When Did Daylight Savings Actually Begin?
The practice of Daylight Savings began over a century ago. It's main purpose you ask? To help with World War I efforts in the United States, per USAFacts. With the hours Daylight Savings provided, workdays were made longer, and fuel was able to be more easily rationed.

While Daylight Savings was abolished following WWI, it returned for World War II. Following WWII, it was once again rescinded after the end of it. But, it returned in 1966, and has remained ever since. Debate has gone on about whether on to outlaw it ever since.

According to KXAN, the state hasn't reached the point where the sun is setting pretty early. At the time of writing, the sun set in Austin on November 5th, 2025 at 5:40 PM. Feels pretty early doesn't it?
Well, the earliest hasn't even arrived yet. KXAN reported November 25th, 2025 is when the sun will leave the sky at 5:30 PM, which is supremely early in the eyes of some. So, get ready Central Texas, it's going to get darker quicker soon!
